With its wild and unspoilt landscapes, and its unique coastline, La Manche is the ideal place to go hiking. It’s bursting with breathtaking scenery, varied landscapes and has light that changes with the seasons: everything you need for the perfect hike. Walking is part of the #AttitudeManche approach, the way of life specific to la Manche: recharge your batteries and take the time to enjoy every moment.

By the sea, the GR®223 hiking trail winds its way along 360 km of coastline, from Carentan to Mont Saint-Michel. Beaches, cliffs, headlands, dunes and tidal inlets follow on from one another and offer magical moments to get back to what really matters. Inland, the greenways, towpaths and old pilgrim routes reveal authentic and unspoilt places.

Plan your next walk using our route suggestions and prepare to feast your eyes!

Known as the “Customs officers’ path”, the GR®223 hiking trail links the bay of Les Veys on the east coast to Mont Saint-Michel on the west coast of the territory. You can walk it in stages a day at a time, or do the whole thing in one hiking trip.
